Clipper event achieves global coverage for the FG Wilson brand

Following its departure form the UK in September 2011, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, has completed covering over 40,000 miles via 15 ports in six continents.

The Clipper yacht has crossed the Atlantic Ocean, the South Atlantic, the Southern Ocean, the Java and South China Seas plus the mighty Pacific. It has also visited two of the three great capes - Cape of Good Hope and Cape Leeuwin with a stopover in New Zealand - a first in the Clipper's history.

Since our last update (February 2012) the return journey has involved a stopover in San Francisco, New York and Nova Scotia before returning to Derry / Londonderry (N Ireland) on the 29th June 2012.

The homecoming festival included a four-day maritime event with street performers, art parties and live music throughout the city.

Well done to all the sailors who took part in this daunting challenge and congratulations on completing the journey, arriving back in Southampton in 8th place.
