What's New?

Replacement of the existing 2306 series powered models

The new 350 - 450 kVA model range, powered by the 2206 series engine will replace the existing generator set models that are currently powered by the 2306 series engine.

Fully electronic engine

A fully electronic engine with improved emissions, fuel consumption and lower maintenance costs through greater engine monitoring, protection and control.

Two variants of the 2206 engine

Choose between two variations of the 2206 engine - the 'A' and 'C' variants. The 'C' variant engine will comply with EU 2007 Stage II emissions legislation. The 'A' variant of this engine is optimised for lower fuel consumption although is not compliant with emissions legislation.

New high ambient enclosure

Introducing a new high ambient enclosure option (CAHA) - the 2206 series powered canopy models are designed for operation in high ambient environments up to 50ºC.

Commonality of parts with the 2306

Ensuring the customer experiences optimum 'smoothness' in this product introduction, the 2206 engine has 85% commonality of parts with its predecessor.

Smaller footprint

The footprint of the 2206 is smaller that its predecessor due to the increased power density of the engine.

Range to be manufactured in China

The new 2206 series powered models will also be manufactured in Tianjin, China as well as Larne, increasing global footprint and improving lead times for Dealers. Production in China will take place Q2 2009.

Award Success for FG Wilson

FG Wilson was awarded the International Company of the Year Award at the UTV Business Eye Awards in Belfast on 25th October 2008. Northern Ireland's premier broadcaster UTV and local business magazine Business Eye sponsor the Awards. The Awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievements of Northern Irish companies.

BU Power Systems official opening of new headquarters

On 13th September 2008, BU Power Systems, welcomed over 200 guests to the official opening of their new premises at Ibbenburen in the north west of Germany.

The new headquarters represent an investment of 8.5m Euro and feature a 5,500 square metre, state of the art workshop and testing facilities, as well as a modern office and training suite covering 2,200 square metres.

The event was attended by BU Power System's key suppliers, local dignitaries and members of the board of the BU Group. To celebrate the opening, Ian Thomson of FG Wilson presented and provided a glass generator set to BU Power's Managing Director, Franz Focks.

BU Power Systems has been an official FG Wilson Dealer since 2007 and their new premises will provide them with a platform for continued growth in the German market.

Argentina President visits Diperk exhibition

Diperk Argentina attended the Avellaneda City Municipal Fair, Buenos Aires on the 5th September 2008. The tradeshow attracted thousands of visitors including the recently elected Argentina President, Ms Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.

Exhibiting her commitment to boosting Argentina's Industry and Trade, Ms Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner visited the Diperk stand enquiring about the P18.5 canopied set on display. Diperk representative, Mr Edgardo Toscano, offered his knowledge and expertise explaining the features of the generator set to the intrigued Argentina President.

Overall, the tradeshow was a great benefit to Diperk with over 100 enquiries and some orders already achieved.

What's New?

The new 10 - 22 kVA model range, powered by the 400D series engine will replace existing generating set models powered by the 400C series engine. A new XD20P4 Pro Rental generating set will replace the existing XD20P2 rental model.

The 3 and 4 cylinder 400D series engines being introduced in the new power range meet EU Stage II and EPA Tier 4 emissions regulations and provide clean, quiet and cost-effective power.

Focus on Rental Power

FG Wilson has recently supplied a range of generator sets specifically designed to meet the needs of the Mexican power rental market. With up to 200 kVA power output, the XD rental units were equipped for dual voltage operation and a new socket configuration - which contributed to significant demand for the sets in the region.

Demand for rental power has increased considerably this year in South America, with the XD Rental range proving extremely popular with rental fleet operators in Mexico and Brazil in particular. 40 XD Rental sets ranging between 30 - 250 kVA power output were recently supplied to rental fleet operators in Brazil for use in various applications, including events and the construction industry.

Ranging from 20 - 500 kVA the XD Rental range of generator sets comply with noise and emissions regulations and are designed to meet the specific strenuous demands of rental applications.

FG Wilson Hong Kong Donate to Sichuan Earthquake Relief

On 12th May 2008, a devastating earthquake struck Sichuan Province in southwest China. The earthquake caused significant loss of life and major damage to the area's infrastructure. A three year regeneration project has now been put in place to assist the region's recovery.

A relief campaign has been established to benefit victims of the earthquake and assist in rebuilding the region. FG Wilson Hong Kong and its mainland China employees have generously contributed to this with a donation of 556,558 RMB (US$80,000). The donation took place as part of a televised fundraiser where Mr Xu Nai Qiang, General Manager of FG Wilson Shantou FTZ, presented the cheque. The amount raised also includes personal donations from many staff members.

FG Wilson (Engineering) Ltd has donated a generator set to the relief campaign to assist in the supply of prime power where it is needed most during the emergency operation.

A Wave of Success!

Diesel Generators Company Ltd has secured a contract for the supply of 18 P2000 and four P250H generator sets.

The generator sets will be used to supply power to a water pump plant as part of a major irrigation project in Sudan.

The installation of the generator sets included 18 Woodward GCP31 set mounted control panels to manage the load sharing of the installation. An innovative solution to cool the generator sets was introduced by pumping water from the Nile through a heat exchanger into a reservoir, filtered and then drawn through the generator set by an electric pump. The area to be irrigated with the two pump stations is nearly 50 acres .

Expansion and Regeneration in Belfast

Victoria Square, Belfast's newest, most prestigious retail and leisure developments opened on 6th March 2008.

This new development is supported in part by three, P500P1 generator sets, supplied, installed and commissioned by our Dealer FG Wilson Generator Sales, Northern Ireland.

Sized and specified by the client's consultants, the three synchronized generator sets will provide standby power to the development's lifts, air conditioning systems, lighting and car parking services.

The presence of residential apartments and a cinema within the impressive development also saw noise reduction and attenuation as part of the specification.   Bespoke enclosures provide sound attenuation to 65 dBA at one metre.

The installation itself took approximately two days to complete.   The sets had to be hoisted high above the streets of central Belfast piece-by-piece and assembled on the rooftop side by side.   First the base frames were craned into position followed by the sets themselves, then the enclosures and attenuation. 14 crane lifts were required in total.

The iconic new centre will play a major role in Belfast's continuing regeneration, extending city centre retail space by almost one third. Costing an estimated £400 million to develop, the impressive 800,000 sq ft scheme expects to welcome over 17 million people through its doors every year, placing it among the top ten shopping centres in the UK.

Strength in the Storm

Our Dealer, FG Wilson Hong Kong supplied more than 1,600 generator sets to help alleviate the impact of severe snowstorms that hit Southern China in January and February. The snowstorms, which are the worst for over half a century, impacted nearly 80 million people across 14 provinces of the country.

James Lau, Managing Director of FG Wilson HK Ltd, has helped establish FG Wilson as one of the leading generator set brands in China. He was recently appointed to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), an important advisory body to the Government of China. Through his work with the CPPCC James established FG Wilson as the supplier of choice to provide emergency power to the Guangdong Government in Southern China, where snowstorms had the worst impact.
