Diesel Standby Power – The Future

FG Wilson recently teamed up with one of our UK Dealers, Power Electrics and Perkins to deliver an event for London based Consultants. More specifically, this seminar, titled 'Diesel Standby Power - The Future' was aimed at supporting those involved in the design and delivery of data centre projects. Interest levels were high with 25 Consultants attending the seminar on the 27th March at its unique venue - the London Transport Museum.

The morning session facilitated discussion on a wide range of standby power topics focused on enhancing system reliability and reducing cost of ownership. Subjects included optimal sizing of generator sets, engine emissions standards, fuel storage and control systems.

After lunch attendees participated in afternoon workshops with questions on their areas of particular interest. Demonstrations of FG Wilson software tools, Blueprint and Genselect, were well received with everyone taking copies home.

This seminar acted as a powerful forum to display a unified front to the customer on all elements of our offering - FG Wilson generator set design and build expertise, combined with Perkins engine knowledge and local Dealer installation and support services.

We wish Power Electrics every success in following up on this exciting event.

Dieselec Thistle Generators helps Tower Productions panda to the media

Events specialist, Tower Productions, is used to VIP events but for one of the company's recent jobs in Edinburgh the VIPs weren't celebrities or sports stars...they were two giant pandas: Tian Tian ('Sweetie') and Yang Guang ('Sunshine').

As the UK's media gathered to welcome the two giant pandas from the Giant Panda Conservation and Research Centre in Sichuan Province, China, Tower Productions was tasked with providing the temporary power for the media centre at Edinburgh Zoo. The company put in place 1 x XD200P2 generator set supplied by one of our UK Dealers, Dieselec Thistle, ensuring that the panda's arrival at their new home could be reported across the world.

Tim Shaw, Managing Director of Tower Productions explains, "This is the first time that there has ever been giant pandas in Scotland and their arrival marked an historic moment for Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland and the UK that the media was keen to capture. We're delighted to have played a role in celebrating the beginning of the pandas' ten-year stay in Edinburgh and have become addicted to the zoo's 'Panda Cam' ever since."

Tower Productions specialises in technical solutions for live events, including power, heating, lighting, rigging and vision equipment. The company regularly sources its generators from Dieselec Thistle.

"For an event like this there has to be absolute confidence in the reliability and load bearing capabilities of the generator as without power the media cannot broadcast their reports. Tower Productions relies on us to ensure that its generators are specified to meet the requirements of mission critical applications like these " the only thing we couldn't do was get the pandas to smile for the cameras!"
Paul Moore, Managing director of Dieselec Thistle Generators

Fun Day out in the Congo

Unicompex, our Dealer in the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently treated a group of their customers to a Golf Competition. The day was a great success with the first 5 teams winning prizes, including a small generator set.

As well as distributing refreshments throughout the competition, the Dealer also provided a barbeque and music as entertainment later in the day.

Delighted that the event went so well, Unicompex are confident that their customer relationships are stronger as a result.
